About Wednesday Kim’s Residency
In partnership with Procreate Project, The White House is offering a one-month residency to Wednesday Kim, a shortlisted artist of the Mother Art Prize 2018. The Mother Art Prize is an international open call for self-identifying women, non-binary visual artists with caring responsibilities, conceived and organised by Procreate Project.

Wednesday Kim is a multimedia artist whose work combines video, performance, installation, and sculpture, she will be in residence at The White House from 20th May to 21st June 2019.

During the residency, Wednesday will use green screen performance to explore Postpartum Depression, which has affected her recently and which many women experience after childbirth.

Wednesday hopes to connect with other artists and families who live and work in Barking & Dagenham to produce green screen performances based on experiences and stories of birth and motherhood.

The footage of the performances will be combined with 3D animated elements, 2D images and footage of the local environment to create a new video work.
