Art After School

  • White House 884 Green Lane London United Kingdom (map)

Are you into design and creativity? Have you ever wondered about how to create new artworks using natural materials and sustainable practices?

Join this series of Art After School with artist Tyreis Holder - artist, poet and visual storyteller from South London.

In these workshops, you will get a chance to experiment, share and re-think how design can collide and cohere with the environment. Collaborate with Tyreis and the rest of the cohort (11-18 year olds) and get making! We will co-create wearable art pieces, masks and jewellery using recycled materials. Drawing from ideas surrounding ecology, we will be thinking about how we as organisms interact with the environment and people around us - we all exist within one big ecosystem.

Tyreis’ artwork has been exhibited at the South London Gallery, Deptford X and Somerset House. As a poet she has performed at the South London Gallery, Wellcome Collection and ICA London.

Workshops take place fortnightly after-school - see the schedule on the sign-up sheet below. All sessions are free, with all materials included and snacks provided.

This event forms part of a broader season of programming, entitled Breaking Waves, exploring and raising awareness of the link between our contemporary climate crisis and industrial heritage. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and curated and delivered by Create London.

We want our space to be inclusive and accessible; if you need any information or want to talk to us in advance, please contact whitehouse@createlondon.org
